The Scisense Pressure-Volume system brings an advanced solution to the problem of characterizing the cardiac phenotype of transgenic mice. Our integrated catheter for simultaneously measuring LV pressure and volume is the smallest such catheter in the world and creates the least possible disruption in small mouse hearts.
Only 1.2 French in size, our P-V catheter is the ultimate in the assessment of hemodynamic parameters and cardiac function, allowing continuous measurement of LV pressure and volume. In addition, our sensors are small enough to slip through aortic bands or the lumens of other devices, and no de-bubbling or flushing is required.
The P-V catheter includes our high fidelity pressure sensor (.39 mm diameter) and four electrode rings (.37 mm diameter, .25 mm width). The similar sizes of these components allow for a smooth catheter tip without any bulges that can otherwise make insertion difficult.
Catheter electrode spacing is available for both mice and rats. For mice, the inner electrode segment length is 4.5 mm (centre to centre). For rats, the inner segment length is 9.0 mm. For both types of catheter the outside electrode rings are spaced 0.5 mm from the inner rings.
All models have the pressure sensor side mounted between the inner electrodes. The associated pressure control box for the catheter contains the signal acquisition and amplification circuitry, providing an analog pressure signal through a standard BNC connection.
Scisense pressure-volume catheters are warranted for six months from date of purchase.
